I was at the weekly meeting for Campus Ambassadors at OSU this last Thursday and the topic of risk and life got brought up. The focus of that discussion was more about the risks Christians take when they decide to follow Jesus. It was a good discussion but it also ended up with me thinking of a different thought along the same lines. The thought was: How much of a risk taker is God since he has given us the free will to choose to follow him or not?
If we believe that God truly loves us, then I come to the conclusion that giving us the choice to call him Lord must be a huge risk. We know from 2nd Peter 3:9 that God doesn't want any to perish but that everyone would repent from their sins and turn to him. Unfortunately, we know that this is the ideal and not the reality and that God, by his character, must enforce the consequence of sin--death (Romans 6:23).
What would you do in God's shoes?
